My most significant role as a therapist is to help you, your family, and/or your children create new perceptions, to build self-esteem, and to provide guidance towards growth, insight and gratification.
Psychotherapy involves collaboration between the client and the therapist, with the goal of identifying and building upon strengths, so the first few sessions are spent outlining our specific goals. I use humor, and combine my education and experiences, with the values and uniqueness that you bring to therapy to accomplish these goals. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, families and adults.
My specific expertise has been in child abuse and trauma. Prior to going into private practice, I spent 10 years at a child advocacy center, the last three as the VP of Clinical Services. In that role, I worked with abused children and their families, supervised staff and students, conducted presentations and seminars, and provided expert testimony in court. I have conducted several hundred forensic interviews. In addition to providing psychotherapy and presentations, I am available to provide consultation on criminal cases involving sexual abuse, civil cases involving injury and/or trauma, and supervision towards licensure.
